A New Urban Connection Between the City Centre and the Gave River.

Located close to Pau’s historic city centre and the Château of Henri IV, the AREP group has envisioned a footbridge with exceptional aesthetic refinement. This belvedere-style footbridge not only meets the need to serve the station platforms but also creates an urban connection between the forecourt of the multimodal hub and the banks of the Gave de Pau. Its long-term adaptability is ensured by the inclusion of ramps on either side of the structure.

Situated beneath the canopy of century-old plane trees along Avenue Jean Biray, the footbridge blends seamlessly into its urban and landscape context. It offers an unobstructed view and strikes a harmonious architectural balance with the grand passenger hall. A wide canopy, bordered by a metal sunshade, will provide protection from rain and sunlight while enabling renewable energy production through integrated photovoltaic panels.

The footbridge’s sleek and elegant design gives it a light, contemporary feel, providing travellers with a spacious and comfortable transit space.
