Ramses II Square, Cairo
In conjunction with BECT (Bureau Egyptien de Conseil Technique), AREP has recently won an international architecture and urban planning competition to redevelop Ramses Square in Cairo. The Jury, which comprised leading international figures, chose AREP from a total of 35 competition entries. The remit of the competition was to restructure and howcase the old centre while resolving long-standing urban and public transportation conflicts and minimizing various types of noise, visual and environmental pollution generated by the existing situation.
